A new vegetarian writer in town! PDF Print E-mail
Written by David Wilson
At the risk of making this site sound more like a site about food we have a new food writer in town!  Melissa Wilson (otherwise known as my beautiful wife) has just become a writer for the examiner, and her focus is on vegetarianism in Charlotte, North Carolina.

We have been vegan for a couple of years now, and we love to talk about diet and nutrition.  But Melissa has taken it to the next level by becoming a writer and advocate for vegan lifestyle for the...

Good Coffee...Great Cause PDF Print E-mail

Today's blog is not a rant or praise of work done for the earth.  In fact, it's Earth Day...so really the writing SHOULD be all about the earth!  However, even though Earth Day is a great idea and we love that people take the time to try to educate others on what needs to be done to help the earth, earth day should be every day!  So instead of going on about the earth today, instead I want to brag about our good friends, Maik and Laura Bagby and Tony Assaf, and their new coffee...

When you think of reducing, reusing and recycling, what do you consider?  Reducing makes sense...consume less.  The less we buy, the less trash we produce.  Same if we eat less or use less services.  Reusing makes sense, too.  Why throw something away if it can be used again, or used for another purpose.

But recycling is a different story!

First of all, recycling is the result of a necessary evil these days.  Yes, the cause of recycling is essentially wrong...

How many times have you been to a grocery store or restaurant, or seen a production plant on TV, and wondered what they were doing with all the surplus food?  Melissa and I were watching a new show on TV called Undercover Boss, and the episode had the CEO of 7-Eleven going undercover in his stores. At one point, he found an employee throwing away trays of perfectly good bagels.  He later commented that they do have a program where the excess food is supposed to be given to programs...
