There is data on the web that addresses the environmental impact leather production has on the environment. Apparently there is a lot of harsh chemicals use to remove hair and to prepare and preserve leather. It is easy to understand considering you are taking a dead animal flesh and treating it in such a way that it will no longer decay. However, at a glance, it is hard to find good information. This is where your help is critical. If you love the environment and you either want to learn more about the negative impact of leather production, or you know some and would like to expand your knowledge, please help research this topic. Starting out, you may add comments with links to information, or you can copy information into the comment boxes. Once a significant amount of data has been collected, we may turn this into a wiki type page with different sections related to leather processing. At that point everyone can begin to drill down into a section to gather more data. The ultimate goal will be to create publications, both detailed and simple, to help educate people on the negative impacts of leather production. Thank you in advance for your participation in this project! The outcome should prove to be very interesting! Add this page to your favorite Social Bookmarking websites |
