Why NOT to be vegan! PDF Print E-mail

Why would anyone want to be a "vegan"?  Why would anybody ever want to stop eating [rotting] meat?  In general, a vegan is a person who does not eat anything that comes from animals.  This means no meat, no dairy (no milk, no cheese, no butter)...and for some people it includes honey.  So a person who is vegan only eats fruits, vegetables, beans and grains.  BORING...right?

And...it's becoming a trend!

That's right, Hollywood has started to catch on, whether people claim to do it to save animals, or whether they claim to do it to improve their health.  Honestly...how can one person eating veggies make any kind of difference, right?  And if it is a trend, won't it just fade?

So when you are with your vegan friends, and they decide to share with you all kinds of reasons to become vegan, respond with one of these reasons not to become vegan:

  1. It's just a fad, and fads fade, so why follow the crowd (even if my life depended on it)?
  2. I will surely die if I don't eat meat...really...I cannot live without meat...no seriously!
  3. I can't be vegan...all the vegan people I know are weird, gaunt and malnourished!  Look at <enter vegan friend's name here>!
  4. Look...Oprah tried to be vegan, but decided it wasn't for her...and I ALWAYS do what Oprah does!
  5. There are no vegan restaurants anywhere...where could I possibly eat [fruits, vegetables, beans and grains]?
  6. I like fast food too much...I just can't give it up...I will die without fast food.
  7. I love the taste of rotting flesh sliding down my esophagus.
  8. Everyone else I know gets cancer, has high blood pressure, is overweight, has osteoperosis, etc etc etc...why shouldn't I?
  9. I like the lethargic, stuffed, sick feeling I get when I have that big, bloody, fatty, rotting piece of cow's flesh.
  10. I enjoy constipation...it allows me more alone time in the bathroom!

So next time someone tries to persuade you to become vegan, you will be armed with the above responses.

After reading Kristen's response, I realize the sarcasm in the article is not nearly evident enough. I have made some changes that will hopefully make more of the point, but will welcome more feedback if anyone else has ideas.

WTF, what about being TOLERANT of other people's choices?

I am a meat-eater but I would never persuade anyone from a choice that they've made.

Plus, how do you post something like this on a "care for the earth" website. The best thing for this planet would be to have more vegetarian/vegans.
